Movies Sure to Spook You This Halloween!

By Margaret Liendo

October is revered by many as not only the start of the fall season, but also what some would call the best holiday of the year: Halloween! Many indulge in all the festivities this holiday brings, from the frighteningly tasty candies and treats to the ghoulish costumes. Yet many may not end up trick-or-treating but instead curl up on the couch with popcorn at hand, ready to watch some awesome horror movies. This year alone, theaters have released some blood-curdling thrillers such as The Conjuring 2 and Don’t Breathe. Adding to that list is the highly anticipated movie Ouija: Origin of Evil released October 21.

Origin of Evil tells a terrifying new tale as the follow-up to the 2014 sleeper hit Ouija. The movie is set in 1967 and centers on a widowed mother and her two daughters who decide to add a Ouija board to bolster their séance scam business. However, this proves disastrous as they unwittingly invite genuine evil into their home. When Doris, the youngest daughter, is overtaken by a malevolent spirit, the family must confront unthinkable fears and horrors in order to save her — and send her possessor back to the other side. The trailer alone will give you chills but will surely have you buying a ticket to an upcoming showtime.!

While we all enjoy new horror movies, we can never forget the classics. If you are not in the mood of venturing out to the theater to catch a flick, you can choose one of the many all time horror thrillers, like A Nightmare on Elm Street, the Halloween series and The Silence of the Lambs. But we cannot forget about family favorites, like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown and, ironically, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Whether you have seen these movies or it will be your first time, I can assure you that they will get you into the Halloween spirit!
