by Samantha Stilwagen
The Talon has selected the Sign Language Club as club of the month! The four executives of the club work together to bring awareness to sign language and several aspects of the deaf community.
We have recently had some changes to our executive board. Our previous president, Samantha Stilwagen, is the newly elected Student Government Association secretary. Since she now holds a position on the SGA executive board, she unfortunately had to step down from her position as the Sign Language Club’s president. Since Samantha would still like to be involved in the club, she decided to fill the empty secretary position of the executive board of the club.
The Sign Language Club is so excited to welcome its new president, Madison Selesky. She is a recent transfer student from Suffolk Community College, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language. The members and other executives of the club believe that she is going to be a great addition and leader to the Sign Language Club at SJC Long Island!
The club’s next event, a bake sale, will be on Wednesday, March 29, during Common Hour in the Second Floor Lounge. The club will be selling cookies, cupcakes and other goodies to raise money for its philanthropy, The Cleary School for the Deaf. Come by and have some delicious treats!
If you are interested in joining the Sign Language Club you can email the executives at firstname.lastname@example.org.
