Executives from the SJC Student Veterans of America as well as representatives from the Veterans Resource Center attended the Student Veterans of America National Conference held January 7-10 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
This year’s national conference was the largest ever for this organization, with over 1,500 student veterans and liaisons in attendance representing colleges and universities from all 50 states.

The three-day event included breakout sessions discussing everything: improving the transition from military to college, resume building workshops and Veterans Affairs help sessions. There were also a large number of companies, corporations, non-profit organizations and college and university recruiters on hand to provide job and education opportunities for student veterans and their families. Medal of Honor recipients Kyle White and Ryan Pitts, both U.S. Army, were among the guest speakers. Other notables in attendance included Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert MacDonald and former U.S. Army Chief of Staff General George Casey.
